Creating Meaningful Values
If you haven't heard... I recently completed a 10 month cranial immersion course to deepen my study of innate healing! Some of you may have also noticed a shift in my adjustment style, and just know that this is me creating my truest tale. Honoring myself and my journey, right where I am today. I don't pretend that it is easy to set boundaries but each time I do, it helps solidify what I value most. So in the spirit of releasing the old and allowing in the new, I have redefined my values to reflect the shifts that have occurred within me and throughout my journey. I challenge you to consider your values and examine whether they are connected to who you are today.
So without further ado, these are the things I value most:
I value a world full of health and wellbeing that comes easily and freely to all. I value a mindset full of peace and potential. I value and deeply appreciate the world in which I live in. I value truth, trust, and honesty. I value a world that lives in harmony symbiotically. I value the time in which I am able to create deep, meaningful connections with others (and myself). I value kindness in all forms and appreciate its inherent value. I value the space in which I am able to share with others in ceremony and celebration. I value knowledgeable learning about the truth of our spirit. I value intriguing conversations that deepen our trust of our body's wisdom. I value sacred boundaries that allow us to be honest with our journey and process.
What are your values? I'd love to learn what others care about most. I find it allows us to understand that we align on more ways than we realize. If you're ready to learn how to create meaning values for your life, read on!
How to Create Meaningful, Personal Values for a Purposeful Life
Creating meaningful values is a powerful way to align your life with what truly matters to you. Values serve as guiding principles, helping you make choices that reflect who you are and what you believe. When you take the time to define and connect with your values, you create a roadmap that can guide you toward a life of fulfillment, authenticity, and clarity. Here’s a guide to help you craft values that resonate deeply with who you are today.
1. Reflect on Your Journey and Your Growth
To create values that feel genuine, start by reflecting on your life journey so far. Ask yourself:
What experiences have shaped who I am?
What beliefs or practices feel outdated or no longer serve me?
What have I learned about myself and what I truly care about?
This reflection helps you release old beliefs and makes room for new ones that are in sync with who you are today. Our values grow with us, so revisit them regularly to keep them relevant.
2. Identify What Matters Most to You
Your values should reflect what brings meaning and purpose to your life. Think about the moments that have moved or inspired you deeply and identify the core elements that made those moments meaningful. Some guiding questions include:
What do I believe is essential for a fulfilling life?
What values do I wish to see in the world around me?
What traits or qualities do I respect in others?
Writing down these insights can help clarify which values are truly meaningful and which might simply be expectations from others.
3. Honor Your Boundaries
Setting boundaries is crucial to protect what you value most. Healthy boundaries allow you to prioritize your well-being and protect your energy, which in turn makes it easier to live in alignment with your values. Boundaries also help you identify what matters to you by highlighting what you’re willing to say “no” to and where you draw the line. Ask yourself:
What limits do I need to set to protect my peace and energy?
Are there habits or relationships that conflict with my values?
This self-honoring practice can be challenging but ultimately clarifies what you value most and ensures your time and energy are well-spent.
4. Redefine Success on Your Own Terms
Values are personal and unique; they don’t have to align with traditional notions of success. For some, success might mean wealth or recognition, while for others, it could be about balance, relationships, or personal growth. Define success based on your values, not society’s metrics, by exploring:
What does success mean to me?
How do I want to feel at the end of each day?
What are the qualities that I want to embody and prioritize?
Embracing values like kindness, authenticity, peace, or learning can help you shape a version of success that aligns with who you truly are.
5. Embrace Curiosity and Growth
Meaningful values are dynamic; they can expand as you grow. Embrace values that encourage curiosity and learning, allowing you to continue evolving. Seek out new perspectives and insights, especially those that deepen your connection to yourself and the world around you. Consider:
What do I want to learn more about?
How do I prioritize personal growth in my daily life?
By including curiosity and growth in your values, you commit to a lifelong journey of self-discovery.
6. Live Your Values in Everyday Actions
Finally, put your values into practice. Values are most powerful when they shape our actions, relationships, and choices. Consider how you can incorporate them into your daily life by asking:
How can I embody my values today?
In what ways can I bring my values into my relationships?
What habits or routines will support these values?
Take Time to Reevaluate
Over time, your values may shift as you continue to grow and learn. Regularly revisiting your values ensures they stay meaningful and aligned with the person you’re becoming.
Create, Share, and Connect
Creating meaningful values is about understanding who you are, embracing your growth, and living in alignment with your truest self. Take the time to define what you value and let these guiding principles lead you toward a life that feels fulfilling and authentic. Reflecting on values is a personal journey, but sharing them can create connections with others who may share similar priorities. By talking openly about what matters to you, you may find alignment with others and a greater sense of community.
